Basic Offensive Positions
1. Offensive positions puck in the corner
The strongside winger and center attack the puck. The weakside winger goes to the front of the net. Strongside defensive man slides down halfway between the blue line and top of the circle. The weak side defensive man generally moves to the center of the blueline just inside the offensive zone. However if worried about a quick counterattack, the weakside defensive man can move behind to blueline towards the neutral zone if needed.
2. Offensive positions puck near the point
If the puck comes up to the point area, the number 1 job of the defensemen is to keep the puck in the zone. They can dump the puck into the corners, put it on net, or pass to a teammate. If the puck goes to the corner the same steps apply as shown in diagram #2. If the puck is put on net the forwards should all crash the net, looking for a scoring opportunity as shown in diagram #3 and #4.
