Quick Fix: Stopping
Quick Fix: Stopping
One of the more difficult fundamentals for young players to get comfortable with is the hockey stop. A major problem area is that players like to try and stay on their inside edges the entire time which actually creates more of a turn.
Here are a few things to try:
- have players stand still with feet in neutral position and just swivel the hips and feet back and forth.
- when adding movement have players go very slow and speed up as they become more comfortable.
- keep the feet in a neutral position right under the shoulders.
- turn the head, shoulders, and feet while staying in the neutral position.
