HaH - Shooting One-Timers (No Wind-Up)

Get Full Access

This video emphasizes shooting one-timers without a full wind-up, focusing on showing a target, maintaining proper positioning, and driving through the puck with precision and power.

Coaching Points:

  1. Maintain a Stable Shooting Position: Show a clear target with your hands up in front of your body, keeping your shoulders open and ready to shoot.

  2. Avoid Overopening Your Body: Slightly turn your hips without fully opening your feet, keeping your momentum driving toward the net.

  3. Sweep the Ice for Power: Push down on your stick to sweep the ice and flex your blade for maximum puck control and shot power.

  4. Drive Your Shoulder to the Net: Focus on driving your shooting-side shoulder forward as you release the puck to ensure accuracy and balance.

  5. Adapt to the Pass: Adjust your footwork, stepping into the pass with your inside leg (e.g., left foot for a left-handed shot), maintaining rhythm and quickness.

  6. No Need for a Full Wind-Up: Practise compact one-timers for quick execution, especially in close-range scenarios near the net.

  7. Consistency is Key: Repeatedly work on these techniques to develop muscle memory for game-speed shooting.
