Day 1 - Keeping Your Head Up When Shooting
Today's video focuses on using proper hand positioning and stick technique to improve shooting accuracy, emphasizing controlled follow-through and targeting specific areas of the net.
Coaching Points:
- Bottom Hand Control: Drive the bottom hand toward the desired target to direct the puck accurately and improve consistency.
- Maintain Blade Angle: Keep the blade cupped and allow it to open slightly naturally during the follow-through to maintain power and accuracy.
- Eyes on Target: Keep your head up and use your vision to locate your target, aiming for general areas (quadrants) rather than precise points.
- Hand Positioning: Ensure your hands are positioned away from the body to maximize control, power, and flexibility in your shot.
- Target Progression: Start by aiming for one specific area of the net (e.g., bottom left) and work consistently on that target before moving to other areas.
- Quality Over Quantity: Focus on shooting with proper form and accuracy rather than rushing through multiple shots to build effective muscle memory.
