Admirals 2 Shot

Get Full Access

The Admirals 2 Shot from Nik Passero is a warm-up drill that allows players to warm up with passes, skating, timing and shooting.

Setup

  • Part 1: F1 starts with the puck and passes to D1. They both pass the puck back and fourth as they head down the ice.
    • When D1 gets to the blue line, they make an escape towards the boards while F1 pivots to head up the center of the ice. D1 passes to F1.
    • At this time, F2 times the play and will be ready to receive a pass from F1.
    • F2 skates down the ice while F1 drives the net, and D1 follows the rush.
    • F2 takes a shot.
  • Part 2: F3 passes the puck to D1, who walks the blue line and fires a shot on net with both F1 and F2 creating net front traffic.

Coaching Points

  • This is a warm-up drill and players should practice good habits at the beginning of practice, like communicating with teammates, keeping the sticks on the ice to let their teammate know where to pass to, and keeping their head up to be aware of their surroundings.

Variations

  • Teams can practice different zone entry concepts with F2 and F1 in the first part of the drill.
  • Coaches can add light pressure throughout the drill to make the warm up dynamic and require the players to pick their heads up.
