Tapping The Puck Across Your Body

This video focuses on teaching players how to tap the puck across their body, a skill that helps maintain control and increase agility when maneuvering around opponents or goalies.

Coaching Points:

  1. Hand Positioning: Keep your hands at a good distance apart on your stick with the blade cupped, and ensure your hands are away from your body for better control.
  2. Puck Control: On the forehand side, lightly turn your blade to direct the puck across your body; on the backhand side, pull with your bottom hand while keeping your top hand stable.
  3. Body Movement: Use your outside leg to push off as you tap the puck across, allowing for smoother transitions and increased speed.
  4. Eyes Up: Keep your head up and eyes forward to maintain awareness of your surroundings while executing this move.
  5. Application: Practice this skill to improve your ability to navigate around defenders and quickly change directions with the puck.
