Pad Skating with Pass and Shot is a setup that allows players to practice a variety of skating and puckhandling skills that finishes with a pass and shot on net.
Setup
- Set two next up inside the zone cross ice. One net will be filled with pucks and the other net will have a goalie.
- One player is in the corner at the end that has the goalie.
- On the whistle, a player skates from the blue line and digs a puck out of the net.
- From there, the player will perform various skating and skills around the pads, then passes to their teammate in the corner, and receives a pass back to get a shot on net. In this video we have 4 variations, but you can customize them to be anything you want. The 4 variations we go though are:
- stickhandle through the pads
- starts and stops at each end of the pads
- forward to backwards transitions around the pads
- backwards skating to the pads, tight turns around the pads
- The player that shot the puck becomes the passer and the passer goes to the end of the line.
Variations
- Can use cones instead of pads
- Can perform any skill that is applicable to your team and players.
