This video discusses how attackers can effectively play one-on-one situations against defenders, focusing on setup and finishing moves.

Coaching Points:

  1. Setup Move: Use head fakes, shoulder moves, or quick stickhandles to create time and space, setting up the defender for the next move.
  2. Change of Speed: Vary your speed to disrupt the defender’s gap control and force them to adjust, creating opportunities to beat them.
  3. Finishing Move: Once the defender is set up, finish the play by cutting around, shooting through their legs, or making a quick pass to generate offense.
  4. Have a Plan: Approach the one-on-one with a predetermined strategy, considering whether to attack inside, outside, or utilize deceptive moves.
  5. React and Adapt: Be ready to react to the defender’s positioning and adjustments, using a variety of fakes and dekes to maintain offensive pressure.
