McGillney Drop, Shoot, Battle

Get Full Access

This drill works well for studio / 3 vs 3 rinks or on full ice you can set it up as a cross-ice drill in any of the three zones. Players start in opposing corners with a puck. They skate out to the tire or cone and leave the puck for the opposing player. They skate around the tire, make a quick change of direction to go around the other tire, and pick up the puck that the opposing player left for them. Each player will then go take a shot, stop at the net, and then chase a puck in the middle that is set out by the coach. The players will battle for that puck and try and score on the other net. The first player to get to the puck is on offense and the other player becomes a defender.
