Setup

  • Forwards on all 4 blue lines with pucks.
  • Defenders in center ice.
  • On the whistle, D1 surfs around the center ice circle and pivots backwards to receive a pass from F1.
  • F1 curls back up ice and D1 makes a pass back to F1.
  • F1 continues down the ice and takes a shot on net and stops at the net while D1 surfs the center ice circle, pivots and receives a pass from F2.
  • F2 curls back up ice and D1 makes a pass back to F2.
  • F2 continues down the ice and takes a shot where F1 works to deflect the puck.
  • After the shot, F1 sprints to the corner, retrieves a pass, and makes a pass to D1 at the point.
  • D1 walks the blue line and takes a shot where F2 is working to deflect the puck.

Coaching Points

  • Players should communicate and keep sticks on the ice to let teammates know where they would like the pass.
  • Be aware of your teammates and make sure to time your skating and positioning so you are not too far ahead or behind your teammates.
  • Forwards in front of the net should practice taking away the goalies eyes with a screen and tip the puck.
