This video focuses on improving shooting accuracy by emphasizing proper body positioning, head-up shooting, controlled follow-through, and repetitive, targeted practice to develop consistent and precise wrist shots.
Coaching Points for Shooting Accuracy:
-
Head-Up Shooting:
- Always keep your head up and focus on your target, using peripheral vision if aiming to be deceptive.
-
Controlled Follow-Through:
- Follow through with your bottom hand and blade toward the target; avoid snapping or rolling the wrists unnecessarily.
-
Practice Targeting Corners:
- Begin with one corner (e.g., bottom left) and aim for consistency by hitting it repeatedly before moving on to other targets.
-
Blade and Weight Control:
- Maintain a cupped blade and transfer weight smoothly from the back foot to the front foot for better control and power.
-
Quick Recovery:
- After each shot, immediately bring the stick back into a ready position to prepare for rebounds or follow-up plays.
-
Gradual Progression:
- Start stationary to refine accuracy, then add motion and game-like scenarios as skills improve.
Encourage players to focus on quality over quantity during practice, aiming for precise, deliberate shots rather than rapid-fire, unstructured attempts.
