This video focuses on transitioning from stationary wrist shots to shooting in motion, emphasizing proper weight transfer, hand positioning, and driving momentum toward the net to maintain accuracy and power.

Coaching Points for Shooting in Motion:

  1. Start Slow and Build Confidence:

    • Begin with controlled strides and focus on proper puck placement, weight transfer, and follow-through before increasing speed.
  2. Maintain Proper Glide Foot Technique:

    • Ensure the glide foot moves toward the net without veering off or stopping, preserving momentum for a stronger shot.
  3. Focus on Weight Transfer:

    • Transfer weight smoothly from the back foot to the front foot, aligning power generation with proper body positioning.
  4. Top Hand and Blade Control:

    • Keep the top hand up and out to cup the blade properly, maintaining consistent puck contact during the shot.
  5. Correct Habits Early:

    • Address common mistakes, such as shooting off the wrong foot or pulling shoulders back, by slowing down and practicing without a puck if necessary.
  6. Gradually Add Speed:

    • Once comfortable with the technique, increase skating speed and shot tempo to mimic game scenarios and enhance execution under pressure.
