This drill works on players protecting the puck along the wall. One common situation this technique is used is in the D-Zone when the puck is rimmed around the wall. This drill will help players become more comfortable using their body to protect the puck from the D that is pinching down the wall.
Players will race towards the loose pucks as the coach approaches the pucks with the dummy. Players will turn towards the puck and make contact with the dummy while protecting the puck., Then the player will pass to their teammate in line, skate around the cone, and get a pass back.
