Katchouk Sells Shot and Pulls to Backhand Shootout Goal

https://vimeo.com/912905840?share=copy

Getting the goalie to commit first is a good strategy for the shooter on a breakaway. In this clip Katchouk (Chicago Blackhawks) gets the goalie to commit by faking the shot and then pulling the puck to his backhand. It is like a game of chicken, as the shooter you try to wait out the goalie and get them to commit to your shot. Once they do this then it is tougher for them to move laterally.

What to Watch

  • Katchouk shows shot from the left side forcing the goaltender to drop
  • Katchouk then shifts to his backhand moving across the net while the SJS goaltender tries to recover and push across
  • Katchouk reaches around the outstretched pad and deposits it in the back of the net
